Election 2024: ‘Broken Seal’ Sparks Controversy at Mampong Constituency

Confusion erupted at the Mampong Infantry Junior Primary School (St. Monica’s) polling station in the Ashanti Region during the 2024 elections after polling agents of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) raised concerns over broken seals on voting materials.

According to the agents, the seals, which are meant to remain intact and be opened only in the presence of representatives of political parties and candidates, were found already broken. This prompted a strong protest from the NDC representatives, who demanded an explanation for the irregularity.

The incident occurred at a polling station where 617 voters are expected to cast their ballots.

The situation, which risked delaying the voting process, was eventually resolved through the intervention of an election officer, who worked to address the concerns and ensure normalcy. Voting subsequently proceeded as planned.
