The Ministry of the Interior has clarified that Friday, November 8, 2024, will not be a public holiday, despite being the date for the 2024 National Farmers’ Day celebrations. In a statement signed by Interior Minister Henry Quartey, the Ministry explained that the official Farmers’ Day holiday will remain on Friday, December 6, 2024, which will be observed as a statutory public holiday nationwide.

This clarification follows an earlier announcement by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture that the 40th National Farmers’ Day celebration will be held on November 8 in the Greater Accra Region. Unlike previous years, no regional celebrations will be held, although regions can nominate winners for 10 award categories. These regional awardees are expected to attend an awards ceremony in Accra at the Alisa Hotel, where they will be recognized by their respective Regional Ministers.
The statement reassures the public that all statutory holidays remain unchanged, with Farmers’ Day to be observed on December 6.
