Accra, November 15, 2024 – The Reviving Hopes of Okuapeman Youth Foundation has launched the Cocoa Kente Initiative to honor Ghana’s cocoa pioneer, Tetteh Quashie. Led by Nana Akosua Addobea, Guantuahemea of Mampong-Akuapem, the initiative celebrates cocoa farmers, educates youth, and promotes sustainable agriculture, not just for Okuapema, but for Ghana at Large.The Cocoa Kente project includes the replanting of cocoa on lands destroyed by illegal mining, Youth visits to cocoa farms, Workshops on cocoa processing and transformation among others. The Guatuahemaa of Okuapeman ,Nana Addobea praised former President John Agyekum Kufuor’s efforts to honor Tetteh Quashie, including establishing the Jubilee Cocoa Farm.The Jubilee Cocoa Farm is an initiative that aims to, Preserve Ghana’s cocoa heritage, Encourage youth participation in cocoa farming,and promote cocoa consumption .Akuapem-Mampong, Ghana’s cocoa cradle, boasts significant cocoa-related establishments. The Ministry of Tourism designated the area a National Tourism Destination in 2017.The initiative just as much will not only generate income for the nation but also help bridge the gap between the youth and Cocoa Farming, igniting an all new excitement about Cocoa Farming and consumption. The Cocoa Kente Cloth will symbolize cocoa royalty, inspiring youth and promoting sustainable practices.
