The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has instructed all heads of government institutions to provide detailed information on staff added to their payrolls since Saturday, December 7, 2024.
This directive forms part of the John Mahama administration’s efforts to ensure the accuracy and integrity of government payroll systems.
In a letter dated January 15, 2025, Mr. Debrah emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “This information is critical to maintaining transparency and accountability in our payroll management processes.”
Government institutions have been asked to submit the following details for each employee added during the specified period:
- Full Name
- Designation/Job Title
- Employee Identification Number (if applicable)
- Date of Appointment
- Date Added to Payroll
The requested information must be submitted to the Chief of Staff’s office no later than Friday, January 31, 2025.

“Your cooperation in this important matter is highly appreciated,” Mr. Debrah noted, highlighting the exercise’s role in curbing payroll inefficiencies.
The directive also offers support for institutions seeking clarification, ensuring a smooth and effective data submission process.
This initiative is part of a broader government strategy to eliminate ghost names from the payroll and improve financial management within the public sector.
All stakeholders are urged to comply promptly with the directive to enhance payroll accuracy and prevent financial leakages.
