ECG Advises Prepaid Customers to Top Up for One Month Ahead of System Upgrade

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has advised customers using Nuri Prepaid Meters to top up their meter credits to last at least one month. This precautionary measure aims to prevent vending disruptions during an ongoing upgrade of the Standard Transfer Specifications (STS) metering systems, including the Nuri Prepayment system.

In a statement issued on Saturday, November 23, 2024, ECG emphasized the critical importance of the upgrade, which is intended to ensure continuous vending services.

“This is a crucially mandatory STS upgrade designed to ensure uninterrupted vending service,” the statement read, urging customers to cooperate by purchasing sufficient credit in advance.

Support for Customers

ECG assured customers of its commitment to facilitating the upgrade process and encouraged them to seek assistance if required.

“For your convenience and the immediate upgrade of your Nuri Prepayment meters, please call our call centre on 0302 611611 or contact us via our social media platforms (ECGghOfficial) for expedited action,” ECG added.

About the Upgrade

The STS upgrade forms part of ECG’s broader efforts to modernize its infrastructure and improve service delivery. By updating customers’ meters to align with the latest vending protocols, the initiative aims to streamline electricity payments and minimize potential disruptions.

ECG called on customers to comply with the advisory, highlighting that their cooperation is crucial to the success of the upgrade exercise.
