Residents and travelers in Kpando Torkor are raising urgent concerns over the continued breakdown of the ferry, which has remained out of service for several weeks. This ferry, a vital transportation link for the region, has been inoperable, causing significant disruptions to travel and local commerce.
With no ferry available, people are forced to rely on overcrowded canoes as an alternative means of crossing, resulting in long delays and increased travel expenses. This makeshift solution presents serious safety risks, as passengers face unsafe conditions while navigating the lake.
Stephen Dzaka, a concerned traveler, expressed his frustration, saying, “We used to cross safely with the ferry, but now we are forced to use the canoe. It is overcrowded, and the risk of an accident is high.” He appealed to the government, adding, “We urge the authorities to repair the ferry as soon as possible to prevent a potential disaster.”
Both locals and travelers are calling on the government to take swift action in restoring the ferry service, which plays a crucial role in their daily lives and ensures safer travel conditions.
