EC Presents 2024 Certified Voter Register to Political Parties, Declares It Credible

The Electoral Commission (EC) has officially announced the completion of a “robust and credible” final certified voter register for the upcoming 2024 general elections.

In a formal presentation on Wednesday, November 6, the EC provided political parties with soft copies of the final register, meeting their promised timeline for early November.

Jean Mensa, the Chairperson of the EC, emphasized the Commission’s dedication to ensuring transparency and accuracy in the election process. She stated, “We now have a robust and credible final certified voters register, which is fit to deliver a credible, transparent, fair, peaceful, and glorious election on December 7, 2024.”

Mensa attributed the timely preparation of the register to “the help of God” and expressed gratitude for successfully reaching this critical milestone.

The Commission had previously assured stakeholders during the October 15 IPAC meeting that soft copies of the certified register would be made available by the end of the first week of November. By delivering on this promise on November 6, the EC has allowed political parties ample time to review the final register ahead of the elections.

Following the recent re-exhibition of the provisional voter register, the EC addressed a total of 158 issues raised concerning registered voters across the country. “I’m pleased to note that all the issues have been resolved, and as we speak, there are no further issues regarding the final voter register for the 2024 general election,” Mensa added.

The EC also provided political parties with a template to report any issues with the provisional register. Notably, no party raised further concerns, further confirming the register’s readiness and acceptance for the upcoming elections.
