President Akufo-Addo has asserted that his administration has successfully implemented 80% of the promises outlined in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) manifesto.
Speaking during his tour of the Western North Region on November 5, the President highlighted various government achievements, affirming his commitment to continue fulfilling the pledges made to Ghanaians. While acknowledging that some goals remain unmet, he emphasized that the majority of the manifesto promises have been accomplished.
Addressing the government’s Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, Akufo-Addo praised its transformative impact on Ghana’s education sector. Since its launch in 2017, over 5.7 million students have benefited from the programme, providing educational access to many who previously could not afford it. He noted this as a standout success of his administration.
The President further expressed gratitude to the people of Western North for their support, which he said has been instrumental in his administration’s progress. He pledged to keep working toward fulfilling the remaining commitments, despite the challenges.
“I won’t claim we’ve delivered on every promise. That wouldn’t be truthful, but I can confidently say we have fulfilled 80% of our promises in areas like education, health, road infrastructure, industrial transformation, and agriculture,” he said.
Akufo-Addo highlighted the stark difference in educational accessibility since the Free SHS initiative. “Before my presidency, over 100,000 qualified Junior High graduates were unable to continue to SHS due to financial constraints. But since 2017, Free SHS has dramatically changed the landscape, giving our children the opportunity to progress in their education,” he noted proudly.
Concluding his remarks, President Akufo-Addo reaffirmed his dedication to the development of the region and the nation as a whole, promising to continue working toward a prosperous Ghana.
