Road Diversions in Place for NDC and NPP Rallies Today

The Ghana Police Service has implemented traffic management measures ahead of two major rallies by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), set to take place on Thursday, December 5.

The NDC rally will be held at Zurak Park in Madina, while the NPP will gather at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon. To ensure smooth traffic flow and safety, the police have announced several diversions and an increased presence of officers at key locations.

For NPP supporters traveling from Adenta, they will be redirected at Ritz Junction, passing through Aviation and UPSA, eventually reaching Okponglo to access Legon. Supporters coming from Dome will be rerouted via Haatso Junction, GIMPA, and onward to the University of Ghana.

NDC supporters arriving from the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange will turn right at Shiashie, proceed to UPSA, and then take a left to join the Madina main road. Those traveling from Dome will be directed to turn left at the KFC Junction on Haatso Road, continue toward Wisconsin University, and proceed to Zongo Junction.

To manage congestion around the NDC rally, a roadblock will be set up in front of the Madina venue. Police officers will be stationed at key intersections to assist drivers and pedestrians, ensuring orderly movement.

The police have urged both parties to maintain discipline and ensure that their supporters avoid any disruptive behavior. A police spokesperson reiterated that the safety of the public is their primary concern and called for full cooperation with law enforcement.

These traffic measures aim to minimize disruption for road users while ensuring the peaceful conduct of the rallies. The public is advised to follow the police instructions and plan their journeys accordingly.
