The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Vice Presidential Candidate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has announced a significant incentive for nurses in Ghana: the duty-free importation of vehicles with engine capacities under 1.8 liters, should Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia win the presidency in 2025.
During a visit to the Korle Bu Nursing and Midwifery Training Institute in Accra on Wednesday, October 23, Dr. Prempeh, commonly referred to as Napo, presented this promise as part of the NPP’s broader strategy to alleviate financial burdens on nurses.
“Dr. Bawumia, the incoming president of Ghana, will provide free duty on vehicles with engine capacities of less than 1.8 liters for nurses,” NAPO declared.
Emphasizing the NPP’s recognition of the vital role nurses play in the healthcare system, he assured that a Bawumia-led government would focus on policies aimed at improving the livelihoods of healthcare professionals.
“The NPP recognizes and appreciates the key roles that our nurses play in providing healthcare to the public. We are committed to ensuring that your lives are better,” he said. “In addition to the duty-free vehicle importation, we will introduce other significant interventions to enhance your quality of life and comfort.”
