The Ghana Police Service has arrested Fatawu Ibrahim, also known as Fatau Motorway, in connection with violent clashes between supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Mamobi, Accra, on October 13, 2024.
Ibrahim was previously declared wanted after video footage surfaced showing him brandishing a firearm during the confrontation. A ¢20,000 bounty was placed on his capture, but he has now been taken into police custody, according to an official police statement.
The clashes left two people with gunshot wounds and nine others injured. Authorities were able to restore order following the violence.
Prior to Ibrahim’s arrest, another suspect had already been apprehended in connection with the incident.
Police have confirmed that Ibrahim will soon be arraigned in court as investigations continue. They also reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace and order, vowing that all those involved in the disturbances will be held accountable under the law.
