In a bid to promote education, health, and personal development among young students, the W’AFRIQUE FOUNDATION visited Akim Oda Islamic Junior High School, delivering essential support and mentorship to the pupils.
About W’AFRIQUE FOUNDATION
W’AFRIQUE FOUNDATION is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering young girls through quality education, healthcare, leadership training, and economic opportunities. Led by Miss Sheritta Adu Agyei, a passionate Public Relations Strategist, Actress and humanitarian, the foundation strives to create a safe and supportive environment where young girls can thrive with confidence and dignity.
Key Activities During the Visit
The foundation organized a full day of impactful programs, including:
- Free Eye Screening
Both male and female students underwent eye checks to detect and address vision-related issues early. - Inspirational Talks & Mentorship Sessions
- Miss Sheritta Adu Agyei spoke on the importance of self-presentation, wise decision-making, and leveraging social media positively. She encouraged the girls to embrace their potential and pursue education with determination.
- Mr. Titus Owusu Darko (Journalist, Actor, and CEO of BCN) emphasized effective communication, urging students to express themselves confidently.
- Miss Regina Agyeiwaa and Miss Maame Dufie Agyemang (trained midwives) educated students on adolescence, personal hygiene, and proper sanitary pad usage.
- Mr. Asamoah Ebenezer Cecil (President of Ayuda Children Network) guided students on career choices and time management.
- Interactive Q&A Session
Students freely asked questions on various topics, receiving insightful responses from the speakers. - Donations
The foundation donated sanitary pads, healthy food items, and provided snacks and refreshments for the students.
Appreciation from the School
The Headmaster, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar Sadick, expressed profound gratitude, noting that this was the first time an organization had provided such comprehensive support to the school.
Mr. Mohamme, highlighted pressing challenges, including:
- Lack of fans in classrooms
- Poor washroom facilities
- Insufficient furniture for students and teachers
- Absence of a school bus
He appealed for further assistance from the government and benevolent organizations to improve learning conditions.
