The Agona Swedru Divisional Police Command has arrested a man, Augustine Ankomah, who allegedly beheaded an Okada rider at Kwame Adwen, a village near Gomoa Afransi in the Gomoa Central District of the Central Region.
The suspect, believed to be in his 30s and also an Okada rider, reportedly attempted to sell a human head to a Togolese woman in the same village where the gruesome act took place.
According to police sources, on Saturday, December 14, 2024, Ankomah approached the woman and informed her that he had a human head for sale. Disturbed by the revelation, the woman alerted a herbalist (name withheld for security reasons), who also resides in the village.
The herbalist, acting on the tip-off, mobilized some youth in the community to lay an ambush at the woman’s residence. True to his claim, Ankomah appeared at the location with the human head in his possession.
The group apprehended the suspect and identified the head as that of Kwame Fosu, an Okada rider who had been reported missing six days earlier. Ankomah and his alleged accomplices were then handed over to the police for further investigations.
The suspect has since been transferred to the Winneba Police Cells and is scheduled to appear in court today, Monday, December 16, 2024.
