Ghanaian music star Kuami Eugene has expressed confidence in maintaining a thriving music career after parting ways with Lynx Entertainment, a record label that has groomed some of Ghana’s biggest artists. While many former Lynx signees have struggled to sustain their momentum after leaving the label, Kuami Eugene is optimistic about changing this narrative.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z with Kwame Dadzie, the multiple award-winning artist revealed that his eight-year journey with Lynx Entertainment has prepared him for the next phase of his career. He credited Lynx CEO Richie Mensah for equipping him with the skills and knowledge to succeed independently.
“I’ve been in the same room producing with Richie multiple times, so I’ve learned a lot—production skills, how the business works, and so much about the showbiz industry. Richie has made so many people, and I’m learning from him as well,” Kuami Eugene shared.
The “Angela” hitmaker revealed that Richie has given him his blessing to start his own record label, Rockstar Records, while still offering guidance as a mentor.
“Thankfully, I’m trying to be the first Lynx artist to part ways with the label and not have everyone saying I’m lost. I’m still under Richie’s wings, and he’s teaching me so much,” he added.
Lynx Entertainment has nurtured several artists over the years, including Asem, Ziggy, the late OJ Blaq, Eazzy, Irene Logan, MzVee, and others. However, Kuami Eugene is determined to chart a different path and thrive beyond the label.
Building Rockstar Records
Although Kuami Eugene has ambitious plans for Rockstar Records, he is currently focused on building his own brand before taking on other artists.
“The Kuami Eugene brand is a handful. Even as a single artist, it’s not been easy. Adding someone now wouldn’t be advisable,” he explained.
He hinted that in the future, he might consult Richie on signing other artists, but for now, his priority is cementing his legacy.
“I should do maybe a 20,000-capacity event, I should have my own Rockstar show, and this year, I’m starting something new with ‘Let the Kids Come to Kuami Eugene.’ These are the things I want to accomplish first before I consider working with other people,” he said.
Current Projects
Kuami Eugene is currently making waves with new music, including an all-star peace song and two singles, Problem and Show Down. These projects, alongside his future aspirations, show his commitment to solidifying his place in the music industry.
With Rockstar Records and a clear vision for his career, Kuami Eugene is optimistic about defying expectations and proving that life after Lynx Entertainment can be a success story.
