Ho Municipality Set to Achieve Metropolitan Status, Announces Bawumia

The Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has announced plans to elevate Ho Municipality to Metropolitan status. He shared this news during the commissioning ceremony of the new Ho Municipal Assembly Complex, highlighting that significant progress has been made by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development toward this goal. An official declaration will be made once all necessary requirements are fulfilled.

Dr. Bawumia stated that this initiative is in response to a request from the Asogli Traditional Council. “I have been in discussions with the Minister for Local Government, and I am pleased to report that we are well on our way to having Ho Municipality declared a Metro,” he said.

He urged the residents to support the government’s development agenda and to refrain from voting for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, John Mahama, who he claims seeks to revert the progress made. “When you compare the assembly building’s condition before and after the upgrades, it is clear that we are moving forward, and we should not turn back,” he emphasized.

Dr. Bawumia elaborated on the government’s commitment to equitable development across the country, stating, “In the last eight years, this government has worked to ensure that every region receives its fair share of infrastructure improvements.” He touted the current administration’s achievements in infrastructure as “second to none in the Fourth Republic,” promising to continue this legacy if elected as President.

The Vice President pointed out the extensive infrastructure development undertaken by the Akufo-Addo administration, which includes roads, schools, hospitals, and community facilities. “There’s no comparison with any previous government; we’ve surpassed all records in these areas,” he declared.

Divine Bosson, the Ho Municipal Chief Executive and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Ho Central, urged voters to support the NPP as a sign of appreciation for the ongoing development projects. “Voting for the NPP is voting for progress. For 32 years, we have elected our leaders, and now it’s time to reward the NPP for their hard work by electing Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the next President,” he said.

The newly constructed two-story Ho Municipal Assembly Complex features 40 offices, an assembly hall, a conference room, and additional facilities. It is one of two complexes allocated to the Volta Region to address the challenge of inadequate office space in both the Ho and Kpando Municipal Assemblies.
