Ghanaian artist Sefadzi Abena Amesu, widely known as Sefa, has announced her departure from Black Avenue Muzik, the label owned by musician and entrepreneur D-Black.
In an interview with Accra 100.5 FM on Thursday, October 24, 2024, Sefa expressed her feelings about the label’s lack of support for her song “Vibration,” stating, “I no longer work with Black Avenue.” When asked about the timing of her departure, she clarified that she had been away from the label “for some time.”
“First of all, my contract ended. I’ve always said that working with people you consider family can be a roller coaster—things happen, misunderstandings arise,” she explained.
Sefa had been with D-Black’s record label for about seven years, during which she released popular songs such as “Fever,” “E Choke,” “Shuga,” “Player,” and “Vibration.” In 2022, she won the Afrobeats Song of the Year award at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards for “E Choke.”
Now pursuing an independent career, Sefa has released a new song titled “All Over,” featuring Camidoh.
