The Ghana Country Director of Mastercard Foundation, Rica Rwigamba, has reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to addressing unemployment in Ghana by equipping youth with employable skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This commitment led to a partnership with the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) to launch the Business In A Box (BizBox) Project, which aims to provide employable skills to 250,000 young people in Ghana by 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rwigamba made these remarks during the graduation ceremony for 205 artisans in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta Region who completed the program. She expressed confidence that the skills acquired would positively impact their livelihoods and those of their families, empowering them to participate in economic activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We at the Mastercard Foundation believe that the skills you have acquired and the tools you will receive today will help pave the way for your success as entrepreneurs,” she stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Additionally, Rwigamba emphasized the Foundation’s mission to create equal opportunities for all individuals across the African continent, regardless of their backgrounds or starting points. Togbe Vule V, a representative of the GBI Traditional Area Paramount Chief, urged the trainees to utilize the tools provided wisely and avoid selling them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Seth Klutse, a representative from the Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA), echoed the importance of applying their newly acquired knowledge and sharing it with others to help generate more jobs and employment opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Business In A Box Project, supported by the office of the Vice President, is built on five pillars: Youth Skills Development, Access to Market, Access to Start-up Kits, Youth Social Networks, and Institutional Strengthening, Policy, and Regulatory Support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
