The renowned Presbyterian Boys\u2019 Secondary School (PRESEC) has once again demonstrated its dominance in the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) by securing a spot in the semi-finals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On October 24, at the SGS Auditorium in Cape Coast, the defending champions faced off against two strong competitors\u2014St. James Seminary Senior High School and Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary\u2014in a thrilling contest for the coveted semi-final position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This was no ordinary quiz; it was a riveting showcase of intellect, knowledge, and strategic prowess, with each question igniting fierce competition. The seasoned PRESEC team, winners of the NSMQ eight times, came fully prepared to defend their title, delivering a spectacular display of academic excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
All three participating schools had previously triumphed over their rivals in the one-eighth stage, setting the scene for this high-stakes encounter. In the end, PRESEC emerged victorious with a score of 59 points, reaffirming their status as a formidable contender. Pope John Senior High School put up a valiant fight, finishing closely behind with 46 points, while St. James Seminary, despite their commendable efforts, concluded the contest with 31 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The quiz began with PRESEC taking an early lead, amassing 26 points while Pope John closely followed with 21 and St. James trailed slightly with 20. The competition intensified with supporters cheering from the stands, creating an electric atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the second round, PRESEC capitalized on their bonus questions, further extending their lead to 38 points, while Pope John gathered 30 points and St. James, despite their tenacity, managed 17. The contest intensified in the third and fourth rounds, showcasing PRESEC\u2019s teamwork and academic mastery. By the end of the fourth round, PRESEC surged to 50 points, while Pope John trailed with 43 points and St. James held steady at 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although Pope John made a determined push to challenge the champions, their 46 points fell short of PRESEC’s total. St. James, bowing out with 31 points, exhibited commendable spirit and resilience throughout the contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
