In an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, Kuami expressed that the song has led to backlash from certain music fans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I am still suffering for that feature. I don\u2019t know what conversation led to the decision that it should be me on the track. After I recorded the chorus and the first verse with Sarkodie, it ended up being perceived in a way I didn\u2019t intend. Now I find myself having to clarify that I\u2019m not associated with it as an NPP song,&#8221; he explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He further stated that he is still bombarded with negative comments regarding the collaboration. &#8220;People ask me all the time, \u2018Did you sleep at UGMC? Don\u2019t you know Mahama built it?\u2019&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Released just before the 2020 general elections, &#8220;Happy Day&#8221; sparked controversy, particularly due to a line in which Sarkodie praises Nana Akufo-Addo\u2019s Free Senior High School initiative and supports his re-election campaign.
