{"id":2061,"date":"2024-12-17T07:41:40","date_gmt":"2024-12-17T07:41:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/winsmediagh.com\/?p=2061"},"modified":"2024-12-17T07:41:41","modified_gmt":"2024-12-17T07:41:41","slug":"npp-accuses-ndc-of-lawlessness-calls-for-urgent-ec-re-collation-in-disputed-constituencies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/winsmediagh.com\/?p=2061","title":{"rendered":"NPP Accuses NDC of Lawlessness, Calls for Urgent EC Re-Collation in Disputed Constituencies"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of engaging in acts of lawlessness at collation centres in constituencies where the NDC allegedly fears losing parliamentary seats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At a press conference held on Monday, December 16, at the NPP headquarters, former National Chairman Peter Mac Manu outlined what the party described as a deliberate strategy by the NDC to disrupt the collation process in key constituencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the NPP, the NDC has deployed individuals to destroy election materials, including pink sheets and ballot boxes, attack electoral officers and party agents, and intimidate anyone who attempts to challenge their actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt is shocking that a party claiming victory would destroy the very evidence \u2014 pink sheets and ballot papers \u2014 that could validate their success,\u201d Mac Manu stated. \u201cThis is not the behaviour of winners, but of those desperate to hide their defeat.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The NPP listed affected constituencies, which include Ablekuma North, Okaikwei Central, Tema Central, Dome Kwabenya, Ahafo Ano North, Obuasi East, Ahafo Ano South West, Akwatia, Suhum, Fanteakwa North, Nsawam Adoagyiri, and Techiman South.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The party further accused the NDC of forcefully ejecting National Elections Task Force personnel from collation centres, interrupting the process when results appeared to favour NPP candidates, and pressuring returning officers under threats to declare NDC candidates as winners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHow does the NDC expect the Electoral Commission to gazette results that have not been fully collated and declared?\u201d Mac Manu questioned. \u201cIt is clear that the NDC leadership and their supporters, who stormed the collation centres under threats of violence, have laboured in vain. Ghana is a country of rule of law, not rule of men.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The NPP called for immediate action from the Electoral Commission (EC) to resume the collation process and finalize results in the affected constituencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt is our expectation that the EC will promptly resume collation exercises. We implore the National Election Security Task Force to ensure adequate security to facilitate peaceful and transparent collation under a serene environment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The NPP also urged the NDC to control their supporters and allow the collation process to proceed smoothly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are confident that our parliamentary candidates in these constituencies have won based on verifiable data from the pink sheets,\u201d Mac Manu emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The party concluded by calling on the EC and all stakeholders to act swiftly to ensure the will of voters is respected. \u201cIn the interest of democracy and the peace of our dear country, we urge immediate steps to give effect to the voters\u2019 mandate as expressed in the December polls,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of engaging in acts of lawlessness at collation centres in constituencies where the NDC allegedly fears losing parliamentary seats.
