The Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has intercepted a 40-foot container carrying illegal firearms and ammunition at the Tema Port.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The container, numbered MEDU4496951, arrived from the United States and was falsely declared as containing vehicles and personal effects. A thorough investigation by the GRA\u2019s Intelligence and Preventive Units on November 4, 2024, uncovered 53 pistols, 74 magazines, and 65 live rounds of ammunition hidden in suitcases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Confirming the seizure, the Commissioner of Customs, Brigadier General Zibrim Ayorrogo, stated, \u201cArrests have been made, and investigations are ongoing to determine the full details of the shipment and its intended recipients.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brig. Gen. Ayorrogo also cautioned against the illegal importation of firearms, emphasizing, \u201cAnyone importing ammunition without the requisite license or permit is committing a crime and will face the full extent of the law.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
