Rescue teams remain hopeful of finding more survivors after tapping sounds were heard from inside the collapsed structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Amid applause from bystanders, survivors are being transported on stretchers to nearby hospitals. Seven individuals were rescued from the building\u2019s basement on Sunday, Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Albert Chalamila told <em>The Citizen<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are hopeful that more survivors will be found,\u201d Chalamila said, though the exact number of those still trapped remains unclear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa affirmed that authorities are committed to continuing the rescue operation until everyone is accounted for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">President Hassan announced that the prime minister would now lead a comprehensive inspection of all buildings in the Kariakoo area, emphasizing the importance of ensuring structural safety. Police have also been tasked with gathering detailed information about the collapsed building and its owner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rescue operations began immediately after the collapse, with first responders using bare hands and sledgehammers to clear debris. Cranes and heavy machinery were later brought in to expedite the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fortunately, the building fell before the market area became crowded, potentially averting a greater tragedy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The cause of the collapse remains unknown, and investigations will commence once the rescue efforts conclude.
