Describing the impasse as \u201cembarrassing,\u201d Kufuor expressed concern that the situation, if unresolved, could tarnish Bagbin’s distinguished career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The conflict arose following a Supreme Court decision to stay Bagbin\u2019s earlier ruling that declared four parliamentary seats vacant, a move that shifted the balance of power toward the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Despite the Supreme Court\u2019s stay, NDC MPs continue to assert a majority stance, occupying seats traditionally reserved for New Patriotic Party (NPP) members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In response, NPP MPs, led by their leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, have refrained from attending sessions, aiming to avoid potential confrontations. Their absence has stalled parliamentary proceedings, highlighting the tension surrounding the majority-minority debate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking with Asempa FM, Kufuor called on Speaker Bagbin to prioritize stability and decorum within Parliament, warning that the standoff could harm Bagbin\u2019s reputation and overshadow his contributions to Ghana\u2019s political legacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
